Jonathan Loraine
”Using innovation to change the way the world produces minerals and energy”
Jonathan Loraine has a track record in the application of technology and innovation for the new clean production of minerals. He has experience in all aspects of mineral production, from mineral economics, discovery, project development, operations and rehabilitation. He is heavily involved in the development and commercialisation of innovative technologies for mineral production, both in the commercial arena, and in the research field.
Jonathan formed Core Resources Pty Ltd in 2002. Core is Australia’s most awarded and innovative mineral technology company, with a track record of developing and commercialising clean mineral processing technologies. Jonathan also established Neuchâtel Partners, which provides strategic advisory services to government and industry, Neuchâtel has widespread experience in the management, implementation and commercialisation of innovation.
Jon’s experience spans Europe, Africa, North and South America, Australia and Asia in multiple commodities and all phases of the resources industry from exploration to production and rehabilitation. Recent roles include Chairman, Core Resources Pty Ltd; EGM Exploration and Development, MIM Holdings Ltd and Managing Director International, Normandy Mining. In addition to his experience managing a diversity of business operations around the world, Jon has also led successful major projects, acquisitions, divestments, expansions, start-ups and other significant commercial transactions.
Jon also has extensive experience in the development and funding of technologies and innovations, including 11 years as Chair of the Cooperative Research Centre for Optimising Resources Extraction (CRC ORE), a $180m collaboration between Government, researchers, mining companies, and METS suppliers. It delivered whole-of-system sustainability and productivity improvements for the mining industry. Jon is a director of the Cooperative Research Centre for Future Energy Exports (CRC FEnEx).
His qualifications include BSc Mining Imperial College, London, and MBA Cranfield University, UK. Jon is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).
